Job Description:
The History program in the Department of Social Sciences at Northeastern State University invites applications for a position as assistant professor (or instructor) in United States history. The ideal candidate will have academic specializations in and the ability to teach courses in one or more of the following: modern US history, Native American history, the history of the West, and/or the borderlands.
The ability to integrate active learning and digital resources into the classroom is desired. Willingness to teach face-to-face or online is expected.
Duties include a 4/4 teaching load, encompassing both U.S. history surveys and upper-level courses in the candidate's areas of specialization. Courses may be cross-listed with courses in the department of Cherokee and Indigenous Studies. Candidates should be willing to liaise with student and community organizations to promote learning activities.
Ph.D. in history preferred by time of appointment; ABD considered. Previous teaching experience preferred.
Northeastern State is located in Tahlequah, about an hour southeast of Tulsa, in the heart of Oklahoma's Green Country and nestled at the foot of the Ozark Mountains. The University traces its roots back to the founding of the original Cherokee National Female Seminary in 1851, and the area's rich traditions, heritage sites, and museums offer numerous opportunities for experiential learning.

Annual salary $55,790.00 with excellent benefits, including generous leave time.
