N99999 Financial Aid Specialist, Tahlequah
This position provides support for the university’s financial aid functions.
MAJOR DUTIES- Advises students, prospective students and parents concerning the financial aid process.
- Answers telephone and greets visitors; provides information and assistance.
- Answers office emails.
- Reviews student paperwork for accuracy and completeness.
- Maintains Federal Work Study and Consortium student spreadsheets; prepares reports to consortium schools as required.
- Remains informed of current governmental and accreditation regulations governing each aid program.
- Participates in workshops designed to acquaint students, parents, and high school counselors with financial aid processes.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of hard copy and electronic records management principles.
- Skill in the operation of computers and job related software programs.
- Skill in decision making and problem solving.
- Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- The work consists of related administrative duties. Frequent interruptions contribute to the complexity of the position.
- The purpose of this position is to provide support for the university’s financial aid processes. Success in this position contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the university’s financial services operations.
- Contacts are typically with co-workers, other university personnel, faculty, staff, students, parents, and members of the general public.
- Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, to resolve problems, or to provide services.
- The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light objects and uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity.
- The work is typically performed in an office.
- Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
- Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
- Ability to maintain regular attendance.
Annual salary $28,896.00 with excellent benefits, including generous leave time.
