The Medical Technologist (MT) performs a variety of laboratory tests and procedures to assist physicians in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. The role requires strong technical expertise in clinical laboratory testing, adherence to quality standards, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform laboratory testing in chemistry, hematology, microbiology, and blood bank departments.
- Analyze and interpret laboratory results ensuring accuracy and reliability.
- Operate and maintain laboratory instruments and troubleshoot equipment as needed.
- Ensure proper specimen handling, labeling, processing, and storage.
- Document and verify results in the Cerner Millennium Laboratory Information System.
- Follow laboratory quality control standards and safety protocols.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and healthcare staff regarding laboratory findings.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory standards and hospital policies.
- Minimum 3 years of laboratory experience required.
- Must be a registered Laboratory Technician with either the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT) .
- AHA BLS certification must be in hand.
- Blood Bank experience required.
- Pediatric laboratory experience required.
- Experience with Chemistry Ortho instrumentation and Blood Bank procedures required.
- Experience with Ortho Clinical Diagnostics chemistry analyzer preferred.
- Experience working with Cerner Millennium required.
- Phlebotomy skills preferred but not required.
- Shift: 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM
- Days: Monday – Friday
- Solid color scrubs required.
- Hunter Green preferred.
- Maroon or Royal Blue scrubs are not permitted.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years' exp req Must be a registered Laboratory Technician with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or American Medical Technologists
Experience with Cerner Millennium and Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics chemistry analyzer AHA BLS req Blood Bank exp req Peds exp req Solid color scrubs
- Hunter Green is preferred (NO Maroon or Royal Blue) Phlebotomy skills- not required, but preferred
