Midwives triage all patients, admit, and deliver uncomplicated vaginal deliveries.
They also perform discharges on non-cesarean section patients.
Consultation with a physician is required for complicated patients, operative deliveries, and rounding on those patients.
Currently, there are 5-6 births per day, with an expected increase due to a new facility, anticipated several months ahead.
Midwives may work two shifts with a required 24-hour break in between.
They deliver patients' babies in birthing centers, homes, or hospital settings.
Midwives provide emotional support and guidance before, during, and after labor.
They identify high-risk pregnancies and educate patients and their families on antenatal care and reproductive health.
