Job SummaryAs a member of the Student Affairs Division, the Registered Nurse position works collaboratively under the guidance and supervision of the Consulting Physician and the Vice President of Student Affairs to provide communal health for the campus community. The Registered Nurse plans, directs, and evaluates total nursing care and functions for the college in accordance with established policies. Maintains satisfactory relations with campus wide departments;
responsible for the education, maintenance of records, and upgrading of policies, procedures and skills of personnel. The Registered Nurse works as an integral part of the Student Health Center to coordinate patient care and patient flow. This position is responsible for all areas of the clinic including the progress, direction, coordination and evaluation of designated areas in conjunction with the Consulting Physician.
Additionally, the Registered Nurse supports the Student Affairs Division through teamwork and collaboration, engagement in organizational committees, provides college outreach, and supports the academic of students.
- Triages patient inquiries and communicates test results.
- Attends unit based in‑service and/or continuing education programs to maintain current knowledge base in the field.
- Provides in‑office, patient care services. Duties may include obtaining patient histories, vital signs, venipuncture, specimen collection, administering vaccines/medications and educating patients.
- Provides the best possible nursing care by planning, organising, and directing the nursing functions of patients.
- Initiates and implements patient care plans.
- Maintains acceptable standards of patient care.
- Creates a working climate that provides growth and job satisfaction of personnel.
- Accurately and promptly implements physicians' orders.
- Administers COVID‑19 vaccines to faculty, staff, students and community.
- Possesses strong clinical skills including the ability and willingness to vaccinate patients.
- Administers medication skillfully and correctly.
- Maintains the standards of accurate and complete recording and reporting.
- Arranges to have needed supplies and equipment on hand.
- Completes expenditure forms and other documents related to processes of nursing functions.
- Assists with insurance papers payment and processing.
- Participates in planning changes and improvements.
- Participates in campus safety programs.
- Supports and enforces infection‑control policies and procedures.
- Is resourceful and calm in emergencies.
- Keeps the VP of Student Affairs/Dean of Students informed of patients, needs, and problems.
- Participates in orientation and in‑service training.
- Assists in reviewing and revising policies and procedures.
- Maintains a professional approach with confidentiality.
- Displays concern and initiative.
- Is prompt and efficient with minimal absences.
- Cooperates and maintains good rapport with students, faculty and staff.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
