Salary & Compensation
Georgia-Pacific is hiring Industrial Electrical Technicians to join our Lumber facility in Talladega, AL! This role includes a $3500 Sign On Bonus.
- Starting pay is $32-$44/hr depending on experience.
- $5.00/hour shift premium for any hours worked Friday - Sunday (overtime rules apply).
- Relocation benefits may be available.
- Ability to increase compensation based on skills and contribution to overall performance of the mill.
- Only candidates who are flexible and available to work any shift will be considered. This includes overtime, holidays, and weekends as needed.
- 12‑hour rotating shift (rotates every 28 days).
- Week of orientation:
Monday 9:00 am‑5:00 pm;
Tuesday‑Friday 8:00 am‑5:00 pm. Regular shift will be assigned after orientation. - Shift hours:
Day Shift 6:00 am‑6:00 pm (2/2/3 schedule). - Night Shift Sunday‑Wednesday 6:00 pm‑6:00 am.

What You Will Do- Maintain and troubleshoot Allen Bradley PLCs, VFDs, electronic overload units, and other electrical equipment.
- Troubleshoot and maintain various sizes of switch gear.
- Perform reactive and preventative maintenance tasks on production equipment.
- Use experience to identify and implement improvements.
- Perform both breakdown and planned electrical maintenance.
- Minimum of 2 years of industrial electrical experience.
- Experience with single and three‑phase electrical repair and troubleshooting up to 480 V, industrial controls, motor controls, drives, and electrical distribution.
- Experience with industrial instrumentation, automation, and electrical components.
- Experience reading and following electrical and mechanical schematics.
- Associate degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Systems, Instrumentation, or Electronic Technology AND at least two (2) years of electrical/electronic and/or instrument & control troubleshooting experience in a manufacturing environment OR four (4) years equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in repairing, troubleshooting, and programming operator interfaces and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and experience with Distributed Control (DC).
- Mechanical maintenance experience, including fluid handling and conveyor systems, hydraulic systems and accumulators, valve identification and application, and welding.
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS).
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks including climbing ladders and working at heights or in confined spaces.
- Ability to work in a sawmill environment with dust, noise, heat, and cold conditions.
