SPECIAL NOTES:
High School diploma or its equivalent is required.
Preferences:
- Experience in Payroll.
- Experience with State of Florida Payroll processes.
- Experience working with the State of Florida in an accounting capacity.
- Professional experience with accounting and auditing.
- Experience working with accounting records and data.
- Experience with data reconciliation and validation.
- Experience with User Acceptance Testing (UAT) related to developing scripts, executing testing, and documenting results.
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications.
Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.
This position will be hired at $20.75 per hour.
This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment.
Responses to qualifying questions must be clearly supported by the state application and any omission, falsification, or misrepresentation in the answering of the qualifying questions will be cause for immediate elimination from the selection process.
Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE,
- Knowledge of basic accounting and auditing principles, theory, and concepts.
- Knowledge of accounting principles, auditing procedures, laws, and administrative rules.
- Knowledge of governmental accounting standards.
- Knowledge of accounting systems.
- Ability to utilize spreadsheet applications.
- Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
- Ability to plan, coordinate, and motivate employees in accomplishing the Bureau's objectives.
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- The ability to analyze, comprehend and problem solve accounting and auditing issues
- Ability to perform data analysis and make conclusions.
- The ability to understand, interpret and apply laws, rules, and authoritative pronouncements
- Assist with the daily reconciliation and the monthly remittance and reporting of retirement contributions to the Department of Management Services, Division of Retirement. Weekly review of payroll reports for records out of balance and perform necessary actions to reconcile any differences.
- Assist in the reconciliation of payroll related trust funds.
- Assist with the reconciliation of 6 Tax and 2 Garnishment clearing trust funds. Including daily reconciliation of payroll and transactional data.
- Assist with the daily reconciliation of W-2c Forms created from payroll adjustments.
- Assist with the formatting and processing of payroll reports for the monitoring of transactional errors and determining corrective action.
- Handle special projects and assignments as requested by the Financial Administrator. Daily communication, monitoring and reviewing in any areas of the Taxation/Reconciliation Section to assist with workload and projects.
