POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Clerk's Office is seeking a meticulous, highly detail-oriented Proofreader to assist judges with reviewing proposed orders. The ideal candidate will have exceptional grammar, spelling, punctuation, and syntax skills; strong attention to detail and accuracy; the ability to identify subtle errors, inconsistencies, omissions, and formatting issues in legal and administrative documents before they become part of the official record; and the ability to work confidentially and meet deadlines.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Perform proofreading review and quality control check of proposed orders and other documents.
* Identify and correct discrepancies involving names, dates, case numbers, citations, and other critical case information.
* Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
* Exceptional knowledge of English grammar, spelling, punctuation, and syntax.
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe.
* Ability to identify errors, inconsistencies, omissions, and formatting issues in complex documents.
* Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy while reviewing documents
* Ability to interpret and follow detailed procedures and style requirements.
* Ability to compare multiple versions of documents and identify changes.
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
* Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.
* Ability to deliver messages through interoffice mail, email, phone, and in person.
* Ability to communicate effectively.
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* High school diploma, GED, or equivalent certificate of completion.
* 1-2 years of professional experience involving proofreading, quality control, document review, legal support, records management, or administrative support.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Associate's or Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Legal Studies, Criminal Justice or related field.
