The FWC has six Divisions, including the Division of Habitat and Species Conservation.
The Division of Habitat and Species Conservation is comprised of six sections and two offices. This is an opportunity to join the Imperiled Species Management Section.
Minimum qualifications:
A high school diploma and six years of professional experience in administrative work is required. An Associate's degree can substitute for two of the six years of experience required. A Bachelor's degree can substitute for four of the six years of experience required.
Preferred qualifications:
An Associate's or Bachelor's degree and two years of experience working in an office setting with diverse administrative responsibilities including customer service and office management is preferred.
Experience with State Agency travel and purchasing procedures is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Highly organized with attention to detail
* Knowledge of business purchasing, accounting, budgeting, and travel procedures
* Ability to learn and apply FWC and State policies, rules, and procedures
* Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities independently
* Skilled in writing and editing with knowledge of professional grammar and formatting
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
* Ability to proactively solve problems and make decisions
* Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
* Team-oriented, flexible, and collaborative across programs
* Skilled in effective verbal and written communication to provide clear, timely, and effective updates to supervisor
* Skilled in the use of computers for word processing, information management, communications, and data management
* Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and good time management skills
Additional requirements:
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check. A valid driver's license and the ability to safely operate agency vehicles is required. Answers to qualifying questions must be validated in the applicaiton, resume and cover letter. Description of Duties:
This is an opportunity to join the Imperiled Species Management Section, responsible for managing and conserving Florida's manatees, black bears, sea turtles, and panthers, as an Administrative Assistant II. The position plays a vital role in helping the section operate smoothly by providing office management and administrative support across a variety of areas including purchasing, travel, communications, and scheduling. The successful candidate will be a strong communicator, problem-solver, and team player with the ability to manage a wide range of responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
This is an excellent opportunity to support conservation efforts through behind-the-scenes logistics and administrative leadership. The major responsibilities of the position include: *
* Answer and manage the main public phone line for the Section, responding to calls or routing calls to various Section staff or to their voicemail.
* Coordinate with Section staff to respond to Public Records Requests, and other requests for information.
