Position Overview and Responsibilities:
The Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Division of State Lands (Division) serves as Florida's lead agency for environmental management and stewardship and acts as staff to the Board of Trustees of the Internal Improvement Trust Fund.
The Division's work goes far beyond land acquisition. The Division oversees more than 12 million acres of public lands across Florida, including lakes, rivers and islands. These lands provide opportunities for residents and visitors to explore, connect with and appreciate Florida's one-of-a-kind natural landscapes.
The Division's Revenue Section plays a vital role in supporting this mission by ensuring that fees and revenue generated from activities on Board of Trustees-owned lands are accurately collected and tracked. This work helps sustain the responsible management of Florida's public lands. The Division's Revenue Section is seeking a detail-oriented, reliable candidate to support its operations.
Duties Include:
* Perform data entry of Annual Reporting Forms, mail preferences from opt out forms and billing address changes and other documents as needed.
* Prepare reports for accounts that need to be referred to collections.
* Make reminder calls for past due invoices once they are 10 days past due. Document the contact, including the person spoken with and their response, and resend the invoice. Research accounts with past due invoices prior to making reminder calls.
* Monitor accounts in the Revenue Processing Module for documents that need to be mailed by U.S. mail daily. Including anniversary billing, notice to correct and Annual Revenue Report reminders.
* Monitor returned mail and email documents and research updated contact information.
* Assist customers with using the Florida Department of Environmental Protection Business Portal.
* Pick up and distribute mail for Revenue staff on a daily basis.
* Scan and enter data from hard copies of Annual Reporting Forms, Billing Information Forms, opt out forms and other correspondence received through the mail.
* Anwer phone calls and answer general questions for the Revenue Section.
* Serve as a member of the Division of State Lands phone team, answering calls and general questions in the event the full-time phone clerk is not available.
* Other duties and responsibilities as needed.
Required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
The methods of data collection and analysis; office procedures and practices. Skills in:
Use of various office equipment, a computer with Microsoft Office Applications, including Outlook and the internet; principals of effective customer service Ability to:
Collect, evaluate and analyze data; solve problems; document work flow; organize data into logical format for presentation in reports, process documents and other written materials; conduct fact-finding research; utilize problem-solving techniques; understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to revenue collection; communicate effectively, verbally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; and work independently.
Pay:
$19.00 hourly
