Center for Academic Retention & Enhancement
Responsibilities
* Provides one-on-one academic advising for participants in the areas of college transition and course selection;
Conduct & coordinate small group workshops on select academic support topics for participants;
Develops graduation plans for students using FSU academic policies, student needs assessment, and student records. Collaborates with the Student Persistent Specialist on Academic Improvement Plan (AIP) process for targeted students on academic warning or probation;
Monitors and records student internal and external advising attendance;
Monitors student course enrollment and provides early alerts to staff on non-enrolled students.
* Assists with data gathering, analyzing, and evaluation for program effectiveness and development. Responsible for coordinating student database information. Assists with completion for the Annual Performance Report.
* Establishes/maintains peer study group network; assist with mid-semester progress reporting process, and updates student files;
Assists with connecting students to individual and group tutoring sessions and generates reports on student participation;
Organize educational trips, grad school visits, and wellness workshops.
* Supports recruitment efforts to identify eligible students to participate in the program.
* Attend training sessions to ensure knowledge of current practices, compliance with federal regulation and effectual program implementation.
Qualifications
* A Bachelor's degree and two years of experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience. (
Note:
a combination of post high school education and experience equal to six years.)
* A valid State of Florida or Georgia Driver's License or the ability to obtain prior to hire.
Preferred Qualifications
* Knowledge of University rules and regulations.
* Prior customer service experience and /or experience working with students in an educational setting.
* Ability to extract complex academic information from various sources and maintain confidentiality.
* Experience and/or working knowledge of student advising, counseling, or working one-on-one with people in a professional or academic setting.
* Creative problem-solving skills.
* Master's degree is preferred.
* Computer skills to include experience with Microsoft Office and web-based applications.
* Ability to interpret and explain policies, procedures, goals, and objectives to students, parents, faculty, and staff.
* Ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously with minimal to moderate supervision.
* Ability to deal with people in a calm, confident manner and with complete objectivity.
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, supervisors, and interdepartmental personnel.
* Attention to detail with a high standard of integrity.

Anticipated Salary Range
Starting at $44,056, commensurate with education and experience.
