Job Description:
Plans, develops, and conducts statewide training to school districts, state colleges, universities, contractors, and government agencies. Training includes Florida Building Codes, Fire Codes, statutory rules, Occupational Safety and Health, and forklift. Audiences range from 20 to 50 plus personnel. Provides technical assistance to school districts, state colleges, contractors, and government agencies in interpreting statute, rules, and codes. Aids in updating said codes and rules.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Plan, develop, implement, and maintain a statewide training program to school districts and the Florida college system institutions in the accurate application of Florida's building and life safety codes and rules for new construction and existing buildings. This includes special topics such as annual casualty and safety inspections, accessibility, playground safety, fire alarms, fire drills etc.
* Plan, develop, implement, and maintain a statewide forklift training program to certify school district and state college personnel on the safe use of various types of forklifts.
* Plan, develop, implement, and maintain a statewide training program for Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) requirements. This includes maintaining a working knowledge of law and regulations.
* Consult with the State Fire Marshal in developing and updating training courses.
* Identify training needs as indicated by educational plant surveys and prepare and implement curricula and instructional materials as required.
* Maintain an advanced working knowledge of and provide technical assistance to school districts and the Florida college system institutions in the interpretation of the Florida Building Code, the Florida Fire Prevention Code, State Fire Marshal Rule 69A-58, Florida Administrative Code (F.A.C.), State Board of Education Rule 6A-2.0010, F.A.C. (State Requirements for Educational Facilities), and life safety codes.
* Attend designated professional development conferences, seminars, and other meetings related to the development of best practices for safe, efficient educational facilities.
