A 6th?8th grade English Language Arts (ELA) teacher teaches middle school students across multiple grade levels and supports their development in reading, writing, communication, and analytical thinking. The role combines instruction, classroom management, assessment, and student support.
Core
Job Duties:
-Instruction & Curriculum
Plan and teach ELA lessons aligned with state standards and school curriculum
Teach reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, spelling, and writing skills
Instruct students in literary analysis using novels, short stories, poetry, drama, and nonfiction texts
-Teach writing formats including:
Narrative writing
Informative/explanatory writing
Argumentative/persuasive writing
Research projects
Incorporate speaking, listening, and discussion activities
Adapt lessons for different grade levels (6th, 7th, and 8th)
-Lesson Planning & Differentiation
Develop daily and weekly lesson plans
Differentiate instruction for:
Advanced learners
English language learners (ELLs)
Students with IEPs or 504 plans
Struggling readers and writers
Use a variety of instructional methods and technology tools
-Assessment & Progress Monitoring
Create and administer:
Tests and quizzes
Writing assignments
Reading assessments
Projects and presentations
Grade assignments and provide timely feedback
Monitor academic growth and maintain accurate records
Prepare students for district and state standardized assessments
-Classroom Management
Establish classroom procedures and behavior expectations
Maintain a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment
Address behavioral issues appropriately
Encourage student engagement and participation
-Student Support & Development
Support students? social and emotional development
Build relationships with middle school students during a critical developmental stage
Encourage independent reading and critical thinking

This position will be a two part assignment. Applicants must apply for this position 3.45 hours and the Teacher Reading-M/J position for 3.45 hours for a total 7.5 hours.
