Provide academic instruction:
Deliver group or individualized lessons in core subjects, using objectives and materials developed by teachers.
Remediation and guided practice:
Support students who need extra help in reading, math, or other skills, often through targeted interventions.
Behavior support:
Implement and monitor behavior intervention plans, collect behavior data, prepare incident reports, and apply positive reinforcement strategies.
Curriculum support:
Assist in developing, adapting, and maintaining instructional materials under teacher direction.
Classroom and Student Supervision
Supervise students during non-structured times (arrival, departure, lunch, recess, field trips).
Monitor student progress and report findings to teachers.
Maintain classroom order and safety, using discipline strategies in collaboration with certified staff.
Administrative and Clerical Tasks
Record attendance and maintain student records.
Perform clerical duties such as organizing materials, preparing supplies, and managing classroom logistics.
Assist with technology for instruction and classroom management.
Collaboration and Professional Responsibilities
Work with teachers and administrators to ensure student success and a positive school climate.
Participate in professional development and in-service training.
Serve as a resource for guest teachers or special education teams when certified staff are absent.
Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards in all student-related activities.
