Nursing Faculty Opportunity

Tallahassee State College (TSC), recently recognized as one of the Most Promising Places to Work in Community Colleges for 2025, is excited to announce a part-time opportunity for the position of Nursing Faculty in the Nursing Division.

Tallahassee State College is a dynamic and growing comprehensive community college located in Tallahassee, Florida. The College's 2022 fall enrollment of more than 10,000 students includes nearly 44 percent minority students. The College enjoys a strong reputation for teaching excellence and for producing graduates with Associate in Arts degrees, Associate in Science degrees, and college credit certificates. Tallahassee is also home to two state universities, Florida State University and Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University.

TSC partners with both universities and with a number of private higher education institutions to afford greater opportunities for all students, faculty, and surrounding communities. TSC also partners with area businesses and organizations to meet local workforce needs.

What You'll Do

Faculty responsibilities include instruction, curriculum, service and support of college policies and procedures, and professional development. Starting salaries for instructional faculty positions are competitive.

Demonstrates effective instructional effort by:

  • Lists teaching assignments and reassigned time assignments.
  • Provides instructor syllabi that comply with Policy 05-12.
  • Grades accurately reflect student achievements of learning outcomes.
  • Teach classes at assigned time and place.
  • Maintains and reports accurate records of attendance and grades.

Demonstrates active engagement in defining appropriate curriculum content and revision of curriculum as appropriate:

  • Reviews course objectives and instructional strategies periodically to assure consistency with master syllabus.
  • Prepares or revises master course syllabus and assists in course coordination.
  • Participates in selection of appropriate course textbooks, resources, and learning management systems or other modes of reference/instruction as appropriate.
  • Revises course or develop new courses as needed to assure relevancy and appropriateness of curriculum.

Demonstrates significant contributions to the college through service and support of college policies and procedures:

  • Encourage students to make maximum use of the resources of the College.
  • Engage in service to the college through standing committee participation, assistance in other units such as orientation or recruitment in student affairs.
  • Engage in service to the division through committee participation, support for adjuncts, administrative duties, course or finals coordination, or other activities agreed on with the supervisor.
  • Provides service to the discipline through leadership positions in state or national organizations.
  • Participates in the advising process.

Demonstrates active engagement in professional development:

  • Develops and implements a plan for professional development that may include short and long term goals, as well as documentation to be included in the professional portfolio.

Who We're Looking For

The Position must have:

  • Minimum of a Master's degree in a related area.
  • A master's degree in a related discipline with 18 or more graduate credit hours in a related area also meets the minimum requirement.
  • A registered nurse professional licensure in Florida is required.
