Faculty Development Instructional Designer

Valencia College is hiring a Faculty Development Instructional Designer to join the Organizational Development and Human Resources team. This is an exciting opportunity for a collaborative professional to support faculty excellence in teaching, learning, and technology integration across the college.

In this role, the Faculty Development Instructional Designer partners with faculty and staff to develop and implement comprehensive programs, curriculum, and resources that support instructional and faculty development. The position collaborates closely with academic departments to promote innovative teaching and learning strategies across face‑to‑face, hybrid, and online instructional modalities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, deliver, and implement faculty development programs, courses, resources, and services to develop faculty in the Essential Competencies of a Valencia Educator.
  • Support faculty in course and program curriculum development in face‑to‑face, hybrid, and online instructional modalities.
  • Collaborate to achieve established goals and outcomes for the Faculty & Instructional Development team.
  • Provide consultation for faculty on curriculum design, pedagogies, learning outcomes, alignment, learning‑centered teaching strategies, and assessment.
  • Provide consultation on the selection and effective use of digital technologies for all instructional modalities.
  • Consult on the design of individualized development plans aligned with the Essential Competencies of a Valencia Educator.
  • Manage multiple course development projects from inception to completion, following instructional design and curriculum development processes.
  • Design and supervise production of learning resources in various formats including print, graphics, audio, video, and animation to support curriculum development and learning‑centered course design.
  • Support academic departments in exploring and developing innovative teaching and learning strategies and materials.
  • Research, articulate, and disseminate innovative best practices in faculty development, teaching, learning, and technology.
  • Develop and implement ongoing program assessment to establish evidence‑based improvement.
  • Support faculty in the continuing contract award process with the Teaching/Learning Academy team.
  • Assist faculty and staff in developing and improving course/program curriculum, learning outcomes, and assessment activities in collaboration with faculty, Academic Affairs, and other college‑wide colleagues.
  • Supervise, develop, and evaluate assigned staff as appropriate.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Ideal Candidate
    • Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
    • Experience designing and implementing learning, training, curriculum, or instructional development programs across face‑to‑face, hybrid, and online environments.
    • Knowledge of curriculum design, instructional design principles, learning theories, instructional technologies, and teaching and learning best practices.
    • Strong communication, presentation, facilitation, consultation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty and staff.
    • Experience facilitating workshops, professional development programs, training sessions, or instructional initiatives.
    • Higher education teaching or faculty support experience preferred; transferable experience includes instructional design, corporate training, employee development, or professional learning environments.

    Additional Information
    • This position will operate in a primarily remote environment, with the expectation of reporting to any Valencia College campus as needed.
