Position Overview
Are you ready to transcend traditional project management and architect the future of a regional engineering powerhouse? We are seeking a strategic Engineering Services Manager to steer our Tallahassee operations and catalyze growth across North Florida. This isn't just a role for a technical expert; it is a high-visibility leadership platform designed for a visionary Professional Engineer who thrives at the intersection of operational excellence, business development, and elite team mentorship.
You will serve as the primary catalyst for regional expansion, possessing direct influence over staffing strategy, client leadership, and the long-term engineering legacy of the firm.
Joining our team means stepping into a culture that balances the stability of an established infrastructure giant with the agility and visibility of a specialized regional office. You will lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers and technical professionals, ensuring the delivery of critical public-sector projects while cultivating the next generation of industry talent. With a clear career track toward senior regional leadership and a total rewards package that recognizes top-tier impact, this is the definitive opportunity to transition from project execution to executive-level influence.
Core Responsibilities
- Operational Stewardship: Direct daily engineering operations for the Tallahassee office, managing staffing allocations, workload balancing, and cross-office resource coordination.
- Market Expansion: Architect and execute strategic growth initiatives to expand the firm's footprint throughout North Florida and the Capital Region.
- Strategic Relationship Management: Cultivate and sustain high-level relationships with FDOT, municipal governments, county agencies, and water management districts.
- Team Leadership & Mentorship: Lead, coach, and develop a high-performance multidisciplinary team, fostering a culture of accountability, productivity, and professional growth.
- Business Development: Spearhead client engagement, identify new infrastructure opportunities, and lead technical proposal strategies and interview presentations.
- Quality & Risk Oversight: Perform rigorous QA/QC reviews on engineering deliverables to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and the firm's quality benchmarks.
- Multidisciplinary Integration: Synchronize efforts between transportation, water resources, utilities, civil/site, and surveying teams to provide seamless project delivery.
- Talent Pipeline Development: Support recruiting initiatives and strengthen ties with local academic institutions, including FSU and FAMU engineering programs.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Licensure: Active Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license (or the ability to obtain via reciprocity within 3 months).
- Experience: 10+ years of progressively responsible civil engineering experience, with a proven track record in leadership or office management.
- Leadership: Demonstrated experience managing engineering teams and overseeing complex project delivery.
- Communication: Exceptional presentation and negotiation skills, with the ability to interface effectively with public-sector clients and executive leadership.
- Regional Network: Established relationships with North Florida agencies such as FDOT District 3, City of Tallahassee, or Leon County.
- Technical Versatility: Diverse project background spanning transportation, drainage, municipal infrastructure, and public works.
- Software Acumen: Familiarity with industry-standard tools such as AutoCAD, Micro Station, ICPR, and Ponds.
- Strategic Vision: Experience in long-term regional growth planning and multi-year staffing strategy.
