The mission of Facilities Management and Building Construction at the Florida Department of Corrections is to provide a safe, secure, and efficient environment for staff, inmates, and visitors. This is achieved through the effective management, maintenance, and construction of correctional facilities, ensuring they meet all regulatory standards and support the department's overall mission of public safety and rehabilitation.

This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

Job duties include operating and maintaining Water Treatment and Wastewater Treatment Plants in compliance with DEP permits and regulations. Conducts preventive maintenance for both plants, orders, and stocks necessary chemicals. Repairs breakdowns at the operator level and troubleshoots specialized equipment such as compressors, pumps, air blowers, and chlorinators. Cleans bar screens, grit chambers, settling, and sludge beds, and performs various water quality tests.

Prepares operational reports, maintains logs, and supervises inmates, preparing progress reports for their rehabilitation.
