The Customer Support Technician provides Tier I software support for systems used by the Office of Work Program and Budget (OWPB). This includes working primarily within the Work Program & Budget Systems Support unit, which handles technical assistance, automated report generation, and coordination with the Office of Information Systems for system enhancements. The role supports modernization of legacy systems, assists with converting mainframe reports into modern applications, and troubleshoots both legacy and current financial management systems under the guidance of technical staff.
Responsibilities also extend to supporting related OWPB offices by ensuring the reliability of systems used for budget development, federal aid management, financial planning, performance monitoring, and the Five‑Year Work Program. This is an entry‑level role operating under general supervision with opportunities for professional growth.

Skills & Qualifications
Candidates must have an Associate's or Bachelor's degree, a technical certificate, or equivalent experience. Up to one year of IT experience is expected, with working knowledge of basic hardware/software environments. Additional expected competencies include familiarity with reporting tools, knowledge of SQL and modern development tools (e.g., Visual Studio, SQL Server Management Studio), willingness to learn legacy programming concepts (e.g., FOCUS/WebFOCUS), ability to follow structured support procedures, and strong organizational abilities for task prioritization.
Interpersonal and customer service skills are also essential to ensure professional and effective communication.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $25.00/hr.
