POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of the Operations and Management Consultant Manger, this position is responsible for researching various databases to ensure information received or disseminated is accurate and complies with state and federal requirements. This position independently researches and reviews information to make a recommendation on a firearms transaction decision. This position is responsible for applying federal and state disqualifiers as well as maintaining, organizing, and prioritizing their own workflow.
This position must meet and maintain NCIC/FCIC (National Crime Information Center/Florida Crime Information Center) certification as required and is responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of data housed within the department databases.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific duties include:
* Conducting research for accurate and complete criminal justice information by utilizing internal and external databases or making contact with other criminal justice and non-criminal agencies to ensure all information received or disseminated is compliant with state and federal requirements;
* Maintaining regular contact with local, state, and federal criminal justice, other criminal justice agencies outside the state of Florida, non-criminal justice agencies for the purpose of gathering required documentation to gain clarification as needed for decisions and record modifications;
* Analyzing multiple source documents to form a recommendation and decision for firearm related transactions;
* Monitoring queue in CCH workflow, selects tasks to be completed and ensures completion within defined time frames;
* Providing documentation to external criminal justice partners to support updates to criminal justice systems;
* Ensuring internal documentation for criminal justice information updates includes extensive notation and markup to justify recommended updates to criminal history records;
* Submitting accurate forms and records in accordance with established section procedures;
* Maintaining various logs and records of the requests received and processed;
* Prioritizing assigned tasks and manages case load per policy and/or direction from management as assigned in the Computerized Criminal History (CCH) workflow; and
* Conducting research for relevant information from multiple databases and resources.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
* Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective communication;
* Knowledge of the criminal justice system;
* Knowledge of the methods of data collection;
* Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data;
* Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques;
* Ability to operate computers and other office equipment;
* Ability to monitor criminal justice information activities; and
* Ability to work independently by planning, organizing, and coordinating work assignments.
