OPS CRIMINAL JUSTICE INFO CONSULTANT II -

This position is responsible for assisting in updating and maintaining vendor personnel information related to FDLE CJIS Vendors. This position evaluates federal and state updates to determine the possible impact to the business processes and ensure FBI CJIS Security Policy requirements are implemented statewide. In addition, this position assists the Compliance and Education Bureau in understanding security policy requirements and briefs on changes/modifications.

This position assists in the processing of access reviews for the purposes of unescorted access to CJIS physically secured locations and criminal justice information. This position must meet and maintain a National Crime Information Center (NCIC)/Florida Crime Information Center (FCIC) certification as required and is responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of data housed within the department databases.

Specific duties include:
Updating and maintaining computerized systems related to FDLE CJIS Vendors;
Updating and maintaining vendor personnel information related to FDLE CJIS Vendors;
Processing criminal justice information access requests and research required information to formulate a recommendation for the purposes of unescorted access to CJIS physically secured locations to include access to criminal justice information;
Ensuring timely completion of access review requests by monitoring incoming requests to ensure completion within 10 business days from assignment;
Researching in state and out of state criminal history records to ensure accurate and complete is available to make proper recommendation;
Providing on-going quality assurance to identify potential problems and recommends alternative resolutions related CJIS Security policy;
Assisting in preparing and delivering various presentations as assigned regarding current and proposed changes to the FBI CJIS Security Policy;
Participating in requirements gathering and coordinates the communication for computerized criminal history systems necessary to facilitate required functions;
Receiving Security Incident Reports from agencies in Florida where Criminal Justice Information or systems housing criminal justice information is compromised; and Compiling, analyzing and organizing data to complete complex tasks and articulates recommendations to management if needed.

Knowledge of the criminal justice system;
Knowledge of the methods of data collection;
Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective communication;
Skills in oral and written communications and in interacting with others in a variety of work-centered relationships and situations;
Ability to comprehend Federal Bureau of Investigations and Florida Department of Law Enforcement criminal justice information services (CJIS) policies;
Ability to learn the operational and technical details of the CJIS Security Policy and to apply that knowledge effectively in auditing the operations of agencies and vendors that access criminal justice data;
Ability to interact with managers and operating employees of a wide variety of criminal justice agencies, non-criminal justice agencies, and vendors under varied attitudinal conditions to represent CJIS effectively with positive results;
Ability to gather factual data by oral and visual means, to integrate, interpret and evaluate that data within the framework of the CJIS requirements to reach and document valid conclusions of the operational integrity of terminal agencies; and Ability to make effective work-related judgments and decisions.

Starting hourly salary will be the minimum of the class pay range, unless otherwise dictated by FDLE's pay policy.
