This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located in in Tallahassee Florida in Facilities Management and Building Construction, Bureau of Construction.

The mission of Facilities Management and Building Construction at the Florida Department of Corrections is to provide a safe, secure, and efficient environment for staff, inmates, and visitors. This is achieved through the effective management, maintenance, and construction of correctional facilities, ensuring they meet all regulatory standards and support the department's overall mission of public safety and rehabilitation.

This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

JOB DUTIES:

This position assists the Director of Facilities Management and Building Construction in administering all aspects of the construction program for the Department of Corrections. The Bureau includes a staff professionally and technically trained in new construction and repair/renovations of existing buildings. This position oversees efforts by the Bureau to work with staff of regional offices, local facilities, the Department of Management Services, regulatory agencies, consulting architects and engineers, and contractors to implement fixed capital outlay appropriations.

* Assists the Director of Facilities Management and Building Construction in administering the construction program for the Department of Corrections, overseeing efforts with various stakeholders to implement fixed capital outlay appropriations.

* Manages the statewide construction and repair/renovation program, participating in legislative budget request preparations for fixed capital outlay, including real property improvements and operating capital outlay.

* Provides managerial direction and supervision to the Assistant Bureau Chief and four regional Supervising Project Consultants, overseeing project scopes, techniques, prioritization, and outcomes, and preparing reports and recommendations.

* Conducts research and provides direction on contracting methods, the extent of contracting, and the use of inmate work crews for construction and renovation activities as part of a comprehensive project delivery plan.

* Develops, directs, and oversees the department's design and construction guidelines, including sustainable and energy-efficient building practices, ensuring project compliance within approved budgets and schedules.

REQUIREMENTS:

* 10 years' experience in architecture, engineering, or construction management. A bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, construction or a business-related area may substitute on year for year basis for up to 4 years of experience.

* 5 or more years of supervisory/managerial experience in a construction project management environment.

* 5 or more years of experience administering construction/renovation projects.

* A valid Driver's License
