BREASTFEEDING SUPPORT SPECIALIST
Provides and coordinates outpatient breastfeeding care. Demonstrates an understanding of diversity. Demonstrates integrity, compassion, accountability, respect, and excellence (I CARE values). Enhances and contributes to a safe environment for all colleagues, visitors, and patients. Communicates effectively with breastfeeding mothers, physicians, and colleagues to provide essential breastfeeding support in-person, virtually, and via telephone. Educates staff members and community members in breastfeeding techniques.
Oversees weekly breastfeeding support group. Assists in the breastfeeding retail store. Updates resources and documentation. Performs other duties.

Required
Education:
Associate degree (or equivalent) in nursing from a program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN)
Preferred Education:
Bachelor's degree in nursing.
Required Experience:
Two (2) years of registered nursing experience and two (2) years of International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) experience
Preferred Experience:
Advanced lactation consultant training. Two (2) to five (5) years of obstetrical registered nursing experience. Five (5) years of lactation consult experience.
Required Certification/License/Registry:
Licensed as a registered nurse (RN) in accordance with Florida Statutes (F.S.), Title XXXII (Regulation of Professions and Occupations), Chapter 464 (Nursing), Part I (Nurse Practice Act) [includes multistate compact licensure]. IBCLC credential from the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE).
