Registered Nursing Consultant

Your Specific Responsibilities:
This position within the STD Section works in assessing patient health problems and needs, developing and implementing nursing care plans, and maintaining clinical/policy procedures specific to STD care. The incumbent may advise patients on health maintenance and disease prevention or provide STD case management. This work includes inspecting facilities and/or evaluating or providing consultation on health care programs, services or policies, technical assistance, and education on STD related issues.
Provides consultation, technical assistance, training, and education to CHDs and other public, as well as private sector clinicians within the state of Florida in clinical practices related to the provision of STD care. Serves as a resource for technical knowledge in the field of STD primary care.
Develop program policy, technical assistance guidelines, standards of care, procedures, training/education modules, and protocols in collaboration with other STD program staff, agencies, and health care providers related to the management of STD nursing care.
Provides instruction and in-service training to clinical staff in skills and abilities needed to upgrade their competencies in STD care. Monitors professional methods and techniques.
Prepares, and participates in reviews of reports, manuals, grant applications, and other STD programmatic documents to ensure clinical accuracy, compliance with nursing standards, and related clinical policies of the agency.
Participate, provide technical assistance, and consultation in cross-programmatic health service strategic objectives, and integration of STD services in Florida.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned or required, utilizing nursing knowledge and practice skills.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Knowledge of nursing principles, practices and techniques.
* Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.
* Knowledge of methods of compiling, organizing and analyzing data.
* Ability to develop and implement various program monitoring methodologies and techniques.
* Ability to provide in-service training on medical and health care services, patient assessments, and utilization practices.
* Ability to develop program policy, procedures, manuals, administrative rules and agreements.
* Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
* Ability to prioritize workload.
* Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
* Ability to develop various reports.
* Ability to formulate and monitor nursing standards and operating policies and procedures.
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
* Ability to communicate effectively.
Qualifications:
Minimum
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in accordance with Chapter 464, Florida Statues
Preferred
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
2 years' experience
Public Health experience
