REGISTERED NURSING CONSULTANT -
This is a highly specialized, out-posted Tuberculosis (TB) Control Section position that requires an active, unencumbered Registered Nurse license, a high degree of self-direction and flexibility, and a high-level of working knowledge, skills, and experience in all aspects of tuberculosis (TB) control and prevention, including applicable statutes, rules, and associated Department policy and procedure. This position is responsible for providing clinical consultation, technical assistance, education and training to ensure the successful operation of TB control and prevention programs throughout the state of Florida and may require routine travel.
This position serves county health departments, their community providers, and other internal and external stakeholders as needed. Incumbents may be assigned to provide temporary coverage for other RNCs as needed during leave and position vacancies. This position is essential and supports the following components of the Florida Tuberculosis System of Care: diagnosis; treatment; case management; surveillance; education and training; policy review and maintenance;
case and cohort review, and participation in formal and informal TB program evaluations and desk audits intended to ensure high-quality, cost-effective care to persons with TB infection or disease residing in or visiting Florida, and improve case detection, timely treatment to cure, and prevention of ongoing disease transmission.
Knowledge of tuberculosis disease, its prevention, cure and control; knowledge of TB case management practices; knowledge of the principles and practices of health promotion and public health education; ability to plan, develop and deliver health promotion and public health education services; ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures; ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and to communicate effectively;
ability to prepare and analyze reports, applications, documents and other written materials; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of health care agencies and interests.
Minimum – Must be a Registered Nurse with an active license. Experience serving as a TB Nurse Case Manager in Florida. Preferred – At least two years of experience serving as the designated TB Nurse Case Manager in Florida working in a county with a high or medium TB incidence or as a multi-county TB Nurse Case Manager covering 3 or more low or medium-incidence counties in Florida.
