This role leads plumbing work on brand-new commercial apartment construction projects in Tallahassee, focusing on underground systems, prefab assemblies, level checks, and installation of plastic piping. You will install and service water, sanitary, waste, PVC, CPVC, cast iron, and copper piping systems, ensuring all work meets specifications, building plans, and plumbing codes for heating, water, and drainage systems.
Responsibilities
- Lead plumbing activities on new commercial apartment construction projects, including underground, prefab, and above-ground installations.
- Install, assemble, and repair pipes, fittings, and fixtures for heating, water, and drainage systems in accordance with specifications and plumbing codes.
- Work with a range of pipe sizes, typically from 1/2 inch to 6 inches, using CPVC, PVC, copper, and other materials in underground and prefab applications.
- Perform domestic water and sanitary piping installations, including fixtures, hangers, and pipe routing.
- Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipe to required angles using pipe cutters, hand tools, power tools, pipe-threading machines, and pipe-bending machines.
- Study building plans and inspect structures to determine material and equipment needs, establish the sequence of pipe installations, and plan installation activities.
- Locate and mark positions for pipe installations, connections, hangers, passage holes, and fixtures using measuring instruments such as rulers and levels.
- Fill pipes or plumbing fixtures with water or air and monitor pressure gauges to detect and locate leaks.
- Assemble pipe sections, tubing, and fittings using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, soldering, brazing, or welding equipment.
- Install pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, and plumbing appliances such as dishwashers, water heaters, sinks, and toilets.
- Engage in pipe cutting, preassembly, and installation of plumbing systems or components for new construction projects.
- Cut openings in structures to accommodate pipes or pipe fittings while maintaining structural integrity and following plans.
- Review blueprints, building codes, and specifications to determine correct work procedures and ensure compliance.
- Install underground storm, sanitary, and water piping systems, extending piping as needed to connect fixtures and plumbing.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $38.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
