Position: Control Technician 2

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced troubleshooting tasks for complex building systems such as variable speed drive replacement, machine‑specific controller repair or replacement, air compressors control, boiler controls, heat exchangers, fume hoods, lab controls, and chiller controls.
  • Perform network diagnostics for FLN and BLN Ethernet and other communication systems, setting up TECs and BACNet, P1, Modbus, KNX, and other networks used in the control systems.
  • Perform all tasks as described in the Maintenance Technician position description, including basic mechanical, electrical, control, and plumbing tasks.
  • Perform calibrations for sensors, controllers, flow meters, and other measurement devices.
  • Coordinate with the Siemens onsite support technician to identify and repair components causing system faults and coordinate with the energy engineer and other FSU team members to resolve complex problems.
  • Complete required safety training and comply with all safety standards, including lock‑out/tag‑out, safe handling of refrigerants, confined‑space safety, hazardous‑chemical handling, participation in campus safety teams, and wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE). Report complex and/or unusual problems to the supervisor and coordinate with other maintenance staff as required to complete complex tasks.
  • Operate mobile equipment and/or campus vehicles, including trucks, golf carts, personnel lifts, and forklifts. Maintain licensure and complete required training. Strive to provide excellent service to campus areas as measured by the 5‑star program. Demonstrate proficient use of AiM mobile devices to complete work orders. Other duties as needed, including back‑up plant operator duties in Utilities and assisting other specialists or maintenance technicians.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent and two years’ experience, or a relevant technical or vocational degree may substitute for experience.
  • A valid State of Florida or Georgia driver’s license or the ability to obtain upon hire.
Considerations

The work schedule is 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a 30‑minute break.

This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check. The position is eligible for on‑call pay additive. This posting is being re‑advertised; previous applicants need not apply.

Anticipated Salary Range

The anticipated starting salary is $44,800, commensurate with experience.
