Job Summary
The Director of Finance will report directly to the Defense Business Line VP of Finance and will lead all financial and accounting practices and controllership fundamentals for the site and manufacturing environment. The position is responsible for partnering with functional leaders across the business to provide financial guidance and co‑lead site priorities so that the site delivers optimal results to achieve strategic, financial and operational objectives.
In addition, the Director will lead all aspects of the site’s financial strategy, FP&A, forecasting, planning/budget processes, scenario planning and financial controls in accordance with policies, accounting principles and government compliance.
- Direct and develop finance and accounting teams, providing growth and development opportunities for all employees.
- Lead all aspects of the manufacturing site’s financial strategy.
- Manage a team of finance and accounting professionals.
- Develop, implement and control finance systems and records for accurate reporting.
- Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate transaction recording.
- Provide leadership to operating teams on established finance controls.
- Interpret and provide guidance on finance and accounting policies.
- Prepare finance and accounting position papers.
- Maintain the general ledger to ensure accurate documentation and recording of invoices, cash receipts and adjustments.
- Ensure the Disclosure Statement accurately reflects accounting practices and meets regulatory requirements.
- Lead internal and external audits, DCAA, DCMA, FACTS reviews and balance sheet reviews for applicable sites.
- Develop solutions to complex financial business issues.
- Direct special financial projects with cross‑functional teams as needed.
- Ensure compliance with GKN Aerospace policies and procedures.
- Provide key decision makers with financial support and analysis.
- Mentor and educate staff and professional teams.
- Create an engaging workplace culture that rewards progress.
- Lead the monthly closing process to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
- Perform additional finance and accounting duties as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field.
- 10+ years’ experience in finance and/or accounting for manufacturing, aerospace, government defense or related industries.
- 5+ years’ direct management experience of a finance and accounting department.
- Ability to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations and program requirements.
- Site or plant‑level financial leadership experience.
- Government accounting experience.
- Ability to manage cross‑functional teams.
- Business acumen and understanding of business operations.
- Excellent PC skills in the Windows Suite.
- Capability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Unquestioned business ethics, honesty, and integrity.
- Strong organizational, process adherence and communication/interpersonal skills.
