Job Role s and Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership for high-voltage substation and transformer engineering projects.
Perform transformer and substation condition assessments using oil analysis, electrical testing, load tap changer (LTC) evaluations, infrared inspections, and reliability data.
Develop recommendations to improve equipment reliability, safety, and service life.
Serve as the technical authority for transformers and high-voltage electrical equipment.
Support engineering decisions involving utility substations and industrial power distribution systems.
Partner with account managers to provide technical consulting and customer support.
Conduct engineering reviews, technical presentations, and troubleshooting for complex customer projects.
Lead engineering initiatives including transformer reconditioning, mobile substation upgrades, equipment modernization, and reliability improvement projects.
Support electrical safety programs, including Arc Flash studies, power isolation procedures, and engineering standards.
Develop and review electrical one-line diagrams and power distribution designs.
Support facility electrical distribution system modifications.
Contribute to research and development of transformer monitoring, partial discharge monitoring, infrared inspection technologies, and reliability solutions.
Mentor engineers and technical staff while supporting cross-functional collaboration and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications and CertificationsBachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
Registered Professional Engineer (PE) required.
Ohio Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain.
Minimum 5-10+ years of experience in high-voltage substations, electrical power systems, or utility/industrial electrical infrastructure.
Strong knowledge of transformer diagnostics, reliability engineering, and electrical system analysis.
Experience with power transformers, CTs, PTs, protective relays, circuit breakers, capacitor banks, switch gear, and transformer testing.
Knowledge of preventive maintenance and electrical diagnostics.
Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
Strong project management, analytical, technical writing, leadership, and mentoring skills.
