Region: Tallmadge, OH
Compensation: $55.00 - $65.00 per hour
Position: National Youth Advocate Program seeks an experienced Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to provide medical services to clients, including physical assessments and treatment of acute and minor illnesses, as needed in Central Ohio. The role is on‑site with a flexible schedule, one day per week.
Responsibilities- Perform physical assessments on each client upon arrival and intake.
- Diagnose health issues; detect changes in a patient’s health and modify treatment plans as necessary.
- Prescribe and administer medicines and treatments as appropriate.
- Evaluate responses to treatments and medications.
- Order and perform diagnostic tests as necessary.
- Identify abnormal findings and notify the client’s physician or consulting physicians.
- Ensure medical treatment for illnesses and injuries is provided.
- Administer and implement physician orders, and when appropriate, train staff on medication and treatment administration.
- Complete all required documentation and record‑keeping in a timely manner.
- Assess minor illnesses and administer non‑prescription medications per approved Standing Orders Policy.
- Schedule and coordinate examinations by the consulting physician for each child.
- Maintain program compliance with Medical Policies and Procedures as well as Standing Orders.
- Provide in‑service training and continuing education to staff on adolescent health‑care needs, CPR, and First Aid.
- Maintain Red Cross CPR/First Aid Trainer certification.
- Master’s Degree from an accredited nursing program.
- Registered Nurse with valid licensure, board certified by ANCC or AANP.
- Prescription authorization.
- Experience working with adolescents preferred.
- Availability for on‑call phone consultations as needed.
- Ability to maintain compliance with required training programs.
- Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smartphones, tablets, printers, fax machines, photocopiers, and software including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
- Reliable transportation with a safe driving record.
- Reliable, working telephone.
- Openness to working in diverse groups.
