Retail Store Associate

SUMMARY

We are currently hiring cashiers and customer service representatives starting at $15 an hour. Successful applicants will have some previous retail/cash drawer experience and be comfortable talking with customers. Our store is open 7 days/week and the work shift will vary. A successful applicant must be able to work full-time and have a flexible schedule, including evenings, Fridays, and at least one weekend day (Saturday or Sunday).

• Remain consistently friendly and courteous to all customers.
• Compute or re-compute bill, itemized lists, and invoices showing amount due.
• Make change, accept checks and credit cards, and issue receipts to customers.
• Understand, apply, and follow cashier's standards as written.
• Record amounts received and prepare reports of transactions.
• Read and record totals shown on cash register tape and verify against cash on hand.
• Apply or process cash refunds or issue credit memorandums for returned merchandise.
• Promote Summit Speed Card and process applications.
• Balance cash drawer and complete closeout sheet each day.
• Answer incoming telephone calls.
• Assist with merchandising duties as needed.
• Perform general housekeeping as necessary.
• Promote in-store specials.
• Talk with customers in person and assist customers in returning or exchanging products.
• Contribute to a positive workplace environment.

• Process returns and complete paperwork for warranty returns when a return specialist is not available.
• Ensure retail location is clear of missing parts.
• Stock shelves and counters with merchandise.
• Assist in setting up advertising displays or arranging merchandise on counters to promote sales.
• Stamp, mark, or tag price on merchandise.
• Obtain merchandise requested by customer and place merchandise in a bag or box.
• Assist customers in carrying larger items to their vehicle.
• Answer customer's questions and offer assistance or direction.
• Greet customers when they enter the store and check packages and receipts when exiting the store.
• Understand, apply, and follow performance standards as written.
• Contribute to a positive workplace environment.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); two to three years’ recent experience as a cashier or in customer service or equivalent cash management experience.
