Assistant High School Principal/Athletics Director 2026
Qualifications:
- K-12 or Elementary Principal Certificate
- Master's Degree
- Administrative experience in education
- Demonstrated ability to work with teachers and administrators
- The ability to articulate and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Demonstrated knowledge of Pennsylvania School Law
- Alternatives to the above qualifications that the Board of Education may be appropriate and acceptable

Supervises:
High School staff as assigned by the Building Principal, Director of Secondary Education, Assistant Superintendent or Superintendent
To assist the Building Principal in providing effective building-level leadership that maximizes student achievement and fosters a culture of success, while ensuring all secondary students have equitable opportunities to participate in extracurricular athletics that promote physical development, personal growth, sportsmanship, and an understanding of the value of athletics at Tamaqua Area High School.
Performance Responsibilities:Fiscal
Assist the Director of Secondary Education and High School Principal in:
- Complete and maintain building-level records, reports, and documentation. Prepare and administer the athletic program budget.
- Requisition athletic supplies and equipment in accordance with district procedures.
- Supervise all athletic ticket sales and related revenue collection.
- Assume responsibility for the proper handling, safeguarding, and accounting of athletic funds.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for the athletic program.
- Assist in the supervision of the school's educational program
- Assist in the evaluation, development and revision of the school's curriculum
- Assist in the supervision of the school's teaching process
- Assist in the continuous monitoring and facilitation of improvement of instructional staff at the building levelli>
- Effectively use multiple sources of data to implement procedures designed to increase student achievement
- Continuously researches Pennsylvania school law and applies appropriate laws to building events
- Assists in the development of district policies as they relate to building level issues
- Apply appropriate legal procedures to student disciplinary issues
- Administers the insurance program covering school athletes
- Assumes responsibility for all processing and claims
- Work in a cooperative manner with the school physician in assuring presence at designated contests
- Provides for the physical examination of all athletes prior to the beginning of each season
- Develops and implements appropriate rules and regulations governing expected levels of conduct at athletic events
- Serve as a member of the district's administrative team
- Maintains continuous dialogue parents/students on issues of a disciplinary nature
- Schedules conferences with teachers, students, counselors and staff, as needed
- Attends events pertaining to the day-to-day operations of a high school
- Assist in all school initiatives as directed by HS Principal or other supervisory staff
- Organizes and administers the overall program of interscholastic programs for the district
- Provides leadership in the selection, assignment and evaluation of athletic coaches and staff members
- Maintains records of all secondary athletic events, award winners and scholarship recipients
- Work cooperatively with the school trainer in assuring a continued presence at designated contests and maintain a continuous line of communication with the trainer as it pertains to physical condition of athletes
- Provide continuous training of coaches in the following areas: media relations, conditioning of athletes, communication with parents and athletes, establishment of post-secondary opportunities for athletes and all other areas which may become vital to the continuous success of an interscholastic athletic
- Performs other such related duties as assigned by the Superintendent or a designee
- Develops and revises, as needed, a personal professional development plan for continuous improved performance
260-day work year - salary and benefits determined by the Board of Education
Evaluation:The High School Principal shall evaluate performance of this position annually.
