This is a part-time salaried position based on an average of 10 hours per week.

  • The main focus of this position is oriented toward youth.

There is a great deal of potential for the right individual to grow with this position.

  • There is a desire of the Lead Pastor to mentor the right individual to take on more pastoral responsibilities.
Youth Ministry
  • We have a thriving youth ministry that averages 40-45 youth weekly. (1/2 of these youth are in Jr/Sr High)
  • We currently have 16 volunteer youth leaders.
  • Our youth ministry meets weekly, on Wednesdays, from 6:30 PM to 8 PM.
  • Our youth ministry takes a break at the end of the Tamaqua school year (end of May) and resumes the week after VBS. (last week of July)

Job Description:

  • Work with the current youth directors and volunteers with the goal of assuming leadership of this ministry.
  • Be on time for weekly activities and events (on time is no less than 30 minutes before start time)
  • Create a welcoming environment for participants.
  • Interact with parents as they drop off and pick up youth.
  • Oversee, participate and direct as needed.
  • Share teaching responsibilities among age groups
  • Schedule and conduct staff meetings (approximately every 6 weeks)
  • Express appreciation to volunteers and welcome input
  • Submit detailed minutes of plans and activities to the Ministry Council
  • Prepare and distribute a Responsibilities Chart for volunteers in a timely manner.
  • Ensure enrollment information is kept for all participants.
  • Ensure weekly attendance is accurately kept.
  • Prepare and provide a list of absentees to the Administrative Assistant for mailings.
  • Follow up with repeat absentees
  • Communicate activities to the administrative assistant for the bulletin and for Facebook
  • Provide and account of leadership activities and statistics to the Ministry Council in advance of their meetings (6 meetings annually)
Vacation Bible School
  • We have a thriving VBS that averages 100+ youth in grades K-12
  • We currently have a volunteer staff of 35-40 adults.
  • VBS is held Monday thru Friday, the 3rd week of July, from 6 PM to 8:30 PM.

Job Description:

  • Provide leadership of VBS with direction from the VBS Director and Lead Pastor, with the goal of taking on overall leadership.
  • Take leadership of VBS Flyer distribution in conjunction with the Lead Pastor.
  • Be on time for VBS. (on time is no less than 30 minutes before start time)
  • Serve as a Bible Teacher for at least 1 night of VBS.
  • Interact with parents as they drop off and pick up youth.
  • Ensure enrollment information is kept for all participants.
  • Ensure attendance is accurate.
  • Participate in the VBS Closing Program (Friday PM)
  • Contact youth who are not previously connected to our ministry.
  • Provide and account of leadership activities and statistics to the Ministry Council in advance of their next meeting
Pastoral Roles
  • Be present at worship services
  • Pastoral Staff meetings will be scheduled with the Lead Pastor as needed.
  • Opportunities to preach will be given at the discretion of the Lead Pastor.
  • Sermon content will be discussed with the Lead Pastor.
  • Sermon slides, sermon insert and other items will be provided to the Administrative Assistant in a timely manner.
During Lead Pastor’s Vacation Time
  • Preach in scheduled worship services.
  • Provide pastoral care and pastoral visits as needed
  • Serve as the point of contact for the Prayer Chain
  • Communicate prayer concerns via Mail Chimp.
  • Open the building and be ready for congregants.
  • Make sure the facility is company ready.
  • Ensure a welcoming environment. This includes awareness of greeters, ushers, refreshments etc.
  • Secure the building following services.
