Position DescriptionJob Title: High School Business Teacher

Job Status: Part-time or Full-time
Reporting Functions: Reports to the School Principal
Job Function: The Business Teacher actively instructs 9th to 12th Grade students, creates lesson plans, assigns and grades homework, manages students in the classroom, communicates with families, and teaches students Accounting 1, Accounting 2, Intro to Business, and Personal Finance.

Duties and Responsibilities- Teach business topics such as basic economics, resume writing, facts about business careers, account checking, computers, the stock market, accounting, and finance. Deliver instruction on topics such as the principles of marketing, how to operate a business, and the financial aspects of business.
- Exhibit enthusiasm on Business topics for students and foster their academic abilities. Deliver the skills and knowledge necessary for students to function as responsible citizens in the business world.
- Improve students' knowledge of business practices.
- Organize daily class time so that instruction can be accomplished within the allotted time; develop weekly lessons with the appropriate instructional materials; provide appropriate, detailed instructions/plans for a substitute teacher in the event of absence.
- Actively supervise students in hallways before, after, and between classes, in a library, in the cafeteria, in bus areas, and at special events, ensuring safety and security.
- Read and stay abreast of current topics in business.
- Maintain fair, accurate, and timely grading policies, procedures, and attendance. Regularly check email and update web pages as required through the technology system provided by the school. Grade papers, assignments, and assessments promptly and accurately.
- Communicate with students and parents on a regular basis about schedules, assignments, events, and individual student needs. Meet with parents during parent‑teacher conferences throughout the school year.
- Evaluate each student's progress in business knowledge; keep appropriate records; prepare, administer, score, and record results of tests in evaluating student progress; prepare progress reports and report cards.
- Maintain appropriate confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters including social media and online platforms. Follow all Marian Catholic High School and Allentown Diocese policies as per the teacher's handbook.
- Maintain and engage in professional growth, adhere to professional standards, and demonstrate professional ethics, sound judgment, and leadership. Cooperate and collaborate with other staff members in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
- Attend all required in‑service training meetings and workshops. Attend and participate in faculty meetings.
- Perform other duties assigned by supervisor, administrator, or principal.

Educational Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Business or related field.
- PA high school certification preferred.
Clear records of Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check (PATCH), Pennsylvania Child Abuse History, and Federal Bureau of Investigation Criminal Background Fingerprint Check as required under Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Act 153 of 2014 (No less than 1‑year old). As well as attendance at the online Protecting God's Children class and Mandated Reporter Training.
Other Requirements- An understanding of child development and the skills necessary to relate to the students being taught.
