Your RoleThe Senior Quality Engineer, Thin Films is a hybrid role located in Tamaqua, PA. Approximately 10% domestic travel is required to meet business needs.
The Senior Quality Engineer, Thin Films will work to ensure excellence with thin films materials for major semiconductor customers globally. This role involves leading cross-functional teams to resolve technology issues, investigating root causes, and implementing preventive actions for world-class quality. As the voice of the customer, you will support the Site Quality Manager in enhancing quality performance and driving continuous improvement through process control tools and automation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Lead teams in the execution and quality of thin films materials to major semiconductor customers globally
- Direct cross-functional teams in resolving technology issues
- Spearhead investigations to root cause and manage cross-functional teams in implementation of preventative/corrective or mitigation actions to ensure world-class quality
- Act as the voice of the customer to the site
- Support the Site Quality Manager in maintaining Thin Films quality performance and efforts toward continuous improvement
- Ensure consistent, disciplined use of process-control tools and SPC reviews to uphold quality
- Identify and enable automation activities to make decisions faster and improve visibility to unknown variable/issues
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to disposition discrepant material, identifying gaps in the process, and managing cross-functional teams to implement controls to prevent/reduce variation
- Lead, engage, and support audits of the site processing and quality systems
- Contribute to the advancement of global quality related projects and process improvements with Lean and/or Six Sigma or data-driven process optimization projects
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, chemistry, physics, material science, or other technical discipline with 5+ years of experience in chemical manufacturing, process engineering, control engineering, analytical chemistry, or semiconductor fabrication experience
OR
- Master’s degree in engineering, chemistry, physics, material science, or other technical discipline with 3+ years of experience in chemical manufacturing, process engineering, control engineering, analytical chemistry, or semiconductor fabrication experience
- Experience supporting quality initiatives or programs in semiconductor, chemical production or similar manufacturing industry
- Moderate to advanced statistical knowledge (SPC, t-test, ANOVA, single and multivariate statistical modelling)
- Experience in quality tools for problem solving (5-Whys, segmentation, Model Based Problem Solving), FMEAs, continuous improvement (CI) activities, management of change, and document control systems
