Responsibilities
Responsibilities: Kforce has a client in Tampa, FL that is seeking an Interim Controller. Responsibilities:
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes across multiple business units
- Manage close calendars, deliverables, and timelines
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation and review of financial statements and supporting schedules
- Maintain consistency and discipline in financial reporting, including variance analysis and trend insights
- Maintain ownership of balance-sheet quality, including cash, AR/AP, accruals, payroll, intercompany, and other key accounts
- Ensure account reconciliations are accurately prepared, reviewed, and resolved with proper documentation
- Identify and remediate aged or unsupported balances proactively
- Apply accounting policies in accordance with established accounting standards (e.g., U.S. GAAP)
- Document, maintain, and enhance accounting processes and internal controls
- Identify control gaps or process inefficiencies and implement scalable improvements
- Promote a culture of accuracy, accountability, and operational discipline within the finance function
- Lead, mentor, and develop accounting team members
- Provide coaching, clear expectations, and structured performance guidance
- Foster a collaborative environment that strengthens technical skills and team capability
- Serve as primary contact for external audit processes, including preparation of schedules and issue resolution
- Support compliance with lender or regulatory reporting requirements
- Collaborate with external advisors and key stakeholders as needed
- Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and planning activities through accurate financial data and insights
- Provide meaningful variance analysis and context for business decision-making
- Deliver reliable financial information to support leadership and strategic initiatives
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 10+ years of general ledger accounting experience
- Working knowledge of payroll accounting and reconciliations
- Strong understanding of GAAP
- Proven process-improvement mindset and comfort working in dynamic environments
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., Quick Books) is a plus
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Senior-level accounting experience in a multi-entity environment;
Experience with multi-currency operations preferred - Demonstrated ownership of financial close, balance-sheet management, and audit processes
- Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP;
Familiarity with IFRS is a plus - Proven ability to lead and develop accounting teams
- Highly detail-oriented with the ability to manage both strategic and hands-on responsibilities
- Experience interacting with auditors and external stakeholders
