Senior Accountant

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to support financial reporting, compliance, and operational accounting for a mission-driven organization. This position plays a key role in ensuring accurate financial statements, maintaining the general ledger, supporting audits and grants, and strengthening internal controls. The ideal candidate brings strong nonprofit or fund accounting experience, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.

• Maintain accurate financial records, including journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger oversight.
• Support monthly and annual close processes and assist with financial statement preparation.
• Track grant and program activity, ensuring proper coding and compliance with funding requirements.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Prepare audit schedules and support external audit requests.
• Help manage AP/AR processes and assist with regulatory and tax filings as needed.
• Identify process improvements and strengthen internal controls.
• Collaborate with internal teams and provide support to junior accounting staff.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 4-7 years of accounting experience, ideally in nonprofit or fund-based environments.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and grant-related accounting.
• Proficiency with accounting systems and Excel; experience with Dynamics or similar preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting.

• Fully onsite schedule required.
