Accounting Manager, Financial Reporting
Job Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Controller to join a privately owned commercial construction and development company in the Tampa area. The ideal candidate will oversee the entire accounting function, including month‑end close, project based financials, internal accounting controls, and operational reporting. This role requires strong hands‑on accounting experience, exceptional accuracy, and the ability to partner closely with project managers and ownership within a small, fast‑paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger management, journal entries, reconciliations, and month‑end close.
- Manage AP/AR, vendor payments, purchase order matching, and approval workflows in partnership with project managers.
- Maintain cash flow tracking, cash in/cash out oversight, and weekly cash flow reporting.
- Process payroll and ensure accuracy of payroll related entries.
- Maintain and reconcile loan schedules, ensuring compliance and timely tracking.
- Oversee construction/project accounting, including cost tracking and support for WIP reports.
- Prepare accurate monthly financial statements and operational reports for ownership.
- Implement, maintain, and enhance internal controls appropriate for a growing construction environment.
- Utilize and navigate a construction ERP system (Gemini); ability to book manual journal entries is required.
- Collaborate with leadership to support financial analysis and provide insights for decision making.
- 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience; construction or project based accounting strongly preferred.
- Strong hands‑on experience with journal entries, reconciliations, cash management, and payroll.
- Proficiency in managing AP, AR, vendor workflows, and project level financial activity.
- High accuracy and attention to detail with the ability to produce clean, audit-ready numbers.
- Experience in a small, entrepreneurial, or owner‑operated environment preferred.
- Ability to learn and work within a construction ERP system;
Gemini experience a plus. - Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across operations and leadership.
