Position Overview
Franklin Street is currently seeking a Property Accountant to join our team in Tampa, FL. The Property Accountant will support Franklin Street and our affiliated businesses with accounting services. Successful candidates will have a background in commercial (retail/office) management accounting, strong systems proficiency, and an enthusiasm for customer service.
Responsibilities- Manage and work with property and in-house accounting teams to perform day‑to‑day financial operations.
- Account receivable (A/R) processing including tenant receipt recognition, cash flow projection, and tracking.
- Account payable (A/P) processing including invoice review/approval and check runs.
- Tenant billing, maintenance, and lease abstraction review.
- Assist and review the annual budgeting process.
- Assist and review the annual CAM reconciliation process.
- Post monthly journal entries.
- Manage the monthly financial closing process, including preparation of client‑required financial reports.
- Perform general ledger reconciliations.
- Conduct bank reconciliations.
- Address any client financial inquiries or concerns.
- Administer accounting procedures, monitor internal controls, and manage database.
- Communicate daily with property management, asset managers, and/or property owners.
- Assist with special projects and financial analysis.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting; commercial real estate accounting preferred.
- Proficiency in Yardi Voyager and other property management software.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong initiative and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to communicate and work collaboratively with a diverse team.
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
- Advanced accounting and analytical skills.
- Supervisory experience is a plus.
- Ability to handle multiple assignments, prioritize tasks, and manage rapid changes in a team environment.
- Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in accounting, business, finance, or related field from a regionally accredited college or university, or equivalent property accounting experience; CPA is strongly preferred.
- Must be able to successfully pass a pre‑employment drug screen and background check.
