Staff Accountant

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Staff Accountant in Tampa, FL.

Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support core general ledger and transactional accounting functions. This role is heavily focused on reconciliations, journal entries, and maintaining data integrity in a high-volume environment. The ideal candidate is strong in Excel, comfortable working in imperfect systems, and proactive in identifying and escalating issues.

Key Responsibilities:

* Perform general ledger reconciliations (GL recs), including account and subledger tie-outs

* Prepare and post journal entries, including month-end GL entries (M/E close)

* Execute account reconciliations, including clean-up work and resolving discrepancies

* Support transactional accounting processes across multiple areas

* Work extensively in Excel and SharePoint-based reporting tools due to system limitations

* Identify, investigate, and bubble up errors or inconsistencies in financial data

* Assist with subledger reconciliation and integration to the GL

* Contribute to ongoing process improvement and data accuracy initiatives
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

* 2+ years of accounting experience (GL, reconciliations, or transactional accounting)

* Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data manipulation required)

* Experience with journal entries and month-end close processes

* Proven ability to manage high-volume reconciliation work and clean-up projects

* Comfortable working in less structured systems environments (heavy manual processes)

* Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and escalate issues
