Job Description & How to Apply Below
Mission Hires is recruiting a Tax Associate for a 10-person, all-women-owned public accounting firm in Tampa, FL (6 CPAs, 4 tax professionals). The firm is growing and needs an experienced public accounting tax professional (no CPA/EA required) with 5–8 years of hands‑on experience preparing and reviewing returns for individuals, S-Corps, C-Corps, partnerships, and high-net-worth clients. You’ll work closely with a supportive Tax Manager and Partner, handle a high volume of tax prep and client reviews, and communicate directly with clients on tax advisory matters.
Proficiency with CCH Pro System fx, Ulti Pro, or similar tax software is important.
- Prepare and review federal and state tax returns for individuals (1040), partnerships (1065), C-Corps (1120), and S-Corps (1120‑S)
- Perform detailed tax prep and data entry for business clients with revenues from ~$1M to ~$50M
- Conduct client reviews and provide tax advisory discussions with assigned clients
- Collaborate with and report to the Tax Manager and Partner on workflow, issues, and deadlines
- Manage a varied book of local Tampa‑area clients across industries
- Ensure compliance with current tax laws and identify potential issues or opportunities
- Utilize CCH Pro System fx, Ulti Pro, or equivalent tax software to complete and track engagements
- Maintain accurate work papers and documentation to support filings and reviews
- 5–8 years of recent public accounting experience focused on tax (not private/industry accounting)
- Strong experience preparing and reviewing Forms 1040, 1065, 1120, and 1120‑S
- Hands‑on experience with small‑to‑mid market business clients (approx. $1M–$50M revenue)
- Proficiency with CCH Pro System fx, Ulti Pro, or comparable tax software
- Excellent client communication skills and comfort discussing tax matters directly with clients
- Ability to handle a high volume of tax prep and client reviews with accuracy and timeliness
- No CPA or EA required; bachelor’s degree (Business, Accounting, Finance, or related) is a strong plus
- Fit for a public accounting tax role; candidates from private/industry accounting (senior accountant, controller, accounting manager) are not a fit
- Vision and Life Insurance (No medical insurance at this time)
- 401(k) plan
- Tuition assistance for professional development, including EA or CPA certification
- 5-day workweek during tax season
- 4-day workweek for 8 months of the year (April–December)
- FRIDAYS OFF for 8 months annually!
- Hybrid work schedule available once the employee is fully established
- The firm is expanding, creating clear pathways for advancement
- Promotion to Senior Tax Associate and Tax Manager is highly attainable in the near future
