Director Accounts Payable

Our clients in the Tampa Bay area are often looking for Director level AP Candidates to lead and/or develop an AP team through continued expansion and centralization. Responsibilities:

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of AP professionals across daily operations and longer-term growth
• Oversee end-to-end invoice processing, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and policy compliance throughout
• Review and approve invoice coding, payment batches, and AP-related transactions across the function
• Manage vendor reconciliations and resolve discrepancies with professionalism and efficiency
• Maintain active vendor relationships through direct phone and email communication as needed
• Monitor AP workflows and identify opportunities to improve processes and increase operational efficiency
• Support month-end close activities including account reconciliations and departmental reporting
• Navigate and manage AP activity across multiple systems simultaneously with accuracy and confidence
• Collaborate cross-functionally with accounting, purchasing, and operations teams on shared priorities
• Support standardization of AP processes across multiple locations as centralization continues
• Track team performance metrics and ensure service levels are consistently met
• Assist with audit preparation and provide supporting documentation as requested

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred; equivalent experience considered
• 5+ years of AP leadership and supervisory experience required
• Proven track record of managing, developing, and holding accountable an AP team
• High-volume AP environment experience strongly preferred
• Manufacturing, construction, distribution, or product-based industry background a meaningful plus
• Proficient in Excel — pivot tables and VLOOKUPs required; aptitude to expand skillset valued
• Comfortable navigating multiple systems simultaneously; system savvy with ability to learn proprietary platforms
• Strong vendor communication skills — phone and email interaction is a consistent part of this role
• Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy across reconciliations and transaction review
• Collaborative and organized with strong problem-solving and prioritization abilities
