- Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closing processes.
- Manage and analyze Work in Progress (WIP) schedules, monitoring over/under billings and project profitability.
- Oversee job costing functions, ensuring accurate tracking of labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor expenses against estimates.
- Partner with Project Managers and Estimators to evaluate project variances, revise forecasts, and identify risk early.
- Manage cash flow forecasting and liquidity to ensure funding for ongoing field operations and subcontractor payments.
- Oversee Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP), including AIA billing (G702/G703), retainage management, and mechanics’ lien waivers.
- Direct subcontractor compliance, ensuring insurance certificates (COIs) and lien releases are collected prior to payment releases.
- Prepare timely financial statements, variance reports, and KPI dashboards for executive leadership.
- Coordinate annual external audits, tax preparation, and banking/surety relationship reporting.
- Manage sales/use tax compliance, payroll tax, and local construction licensing requirements.
- Oversee company risk management programs, including general liability, workers' compensation, and builder's risk insurance.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff (AP/AR specialists, job cost clerks, payroll).
- Optimize accounting workflows and leverage technology/ERP systems to streamline field-to-office financial processes
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or Certified Construction Financial Professional (CCFP) designation is a plus.
- Experience: 5+ years of progressive accounting management experience, with at least 3+ years specifically in the construction industry
. - Software: Proficiency with Excel and Quick Books
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of WIP reporting, percentage-of-completion accounting (ASC 606), AIA billing, and joint venture/subcontractor structures.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to bridge communication between field superintendents and executive management.
