As the Senior Accounting Specialist, you will provide advanced support for accounting and financial activities that contribute to the accuracy and integrity of AACSB's financial records. This position is responsible for complex account reconciliations requiring analysis, research, and resolution, journal entries, month-end close activities, revenue accounting support, and financial reporting preparation. The Senior Accounting Specialist reports to the Manager of Accounting.
How you will contribute:
- Analyze general ledger activity and prepare journal entries, accruals, deferrals and reclassifications
- Complete account reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and assist with month-end close, financial reporting, and annual audit activities.
- Support revenue recognition and maintain audit schedules and documentation to ensure audit readiness.
- Monitor prepaid expenses and maintain assigned fixed asset schedules.
- Review cash activity, process ACH and wire transactions, and support bank, merchant, and corporate card reconciliations and administration.
- Maintain accounting procedures and documentation while serving as a resource on accounting processes and best practices.
- Participate in system implementations and recommend process improvements that strengthen efficiency and internal controls.
- Perform duties in accordance with AACSB International’s Mission and Values.
Requirements
- Fluency in the English language
- At least three (3) years’ experience in accounting, with demonstrated competency with account reconciliations and journal entries and experience with general ledger accounting and month-end close
- Associate’s degree in Accounting , Finance, or related field. (Five years of accounting experience will be considered in place of a degree.)
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP
- Demonstrated proficiency in MS 365 (Excel – intermediate to advanced competency, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently, maintain accuracy, and meet deadline
- Five (5) or more years’ experience in accounting (seven years if no college degree attained)
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting , Finance, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience with Sage Intacct or similar ERP system
- Experience with nonprofit accounting
- Experience supporting external audits
