We are seeking a detail-oriented Accountant with experience in grant accounting, fund accounting, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have a solid accounting background, strong analytical skills, and experience managing grant compliance, budgeting, reconciliations, and reporting in a deadline-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the financial administration of grants from award through closeout, ensuring compliance with grant agreements and applicable regulations.
- Prepare and submit accurate grant invoices, reimbursement requests, and financial reports with supporting documentation.
- Track grant and fund activity, monitor budgets, and analyze spending to ensure expenditures remain within approved funding limits.
- Maintain fund accounting records and ensure transactions are accurately coded to the appropriate grants and designated funds.
- Reconcile grant, fund, and general ledger accounts, researching and resolving discrepancies as needed.
- Review grant agreements to understand financial requirements, reporting deadlines, allowable costs, and budget restrictions.
- Partner with program managers and internal stakeholders to monitor grant performance and ensure financial activity aligns with contract requirements.
- Serve as the primary accounting contact for funding agencies, grant partners, and subrecipients regarding financial matters.
- Prepare and review grant budgets, budget modifications, and financial projections.
- Oversee payroll allocations to ensure labor costs are charged accurately and in accordance with grant guidelines.
- Apply indirect cost allocations and maintain supporting documentation.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close activities, including audit schedules, work papers, and supporting documentation for grant and fund audits.
- Generate financial reports for leadership and provide analysis of grant and fund performance.
- Support process improvements that strengthen financial controls, reporting accuracy, and grant compliance.
- Assist with additional accounting and finance projects as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- 2-5+ years of accounting experience, including grant accounting and fund accounting.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, general ledger reconciliations, financial reporting, and budgeting.
- Experience preparing grant financial reports, managing multiple funding sources, and ensuring compliance with grant regulations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software/ERP systems.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
