About the Opportunity
A growing and complex multi-entity organization is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to support the accounting and financial reporting function. This individual will work closely with executive finance leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain strong internal controls, support external audits, and drive continuous process improvements across the accounting department.
This role offers the opportunity to contribute to strategic initiatives while helping lead day-to-day accounting operations in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities- Support accounting leadership in overseeing daily accounting operations and financial reporting activities.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, regulatory requirements, and internal accounting policies.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate results.
- Prepare financial statements, reconciliations, and variance analyses for management review.
- Oversee complex compensation and incentive-related accounting calculations across multiple business units.
- Partner with external auditors and support annual financial statement audits and other compliance reviews.
- Evaluate and enhance accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives.
- Lead or support accounting system upgrades, process automation efforts, and operational improvement projects.
- Mentor and develop accounting staff, fostering professional growth and technical excellence.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to resolve accounting issues and support business objectives.
- Manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership or supervisory responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
- Experience supporting month-end close, financial statement preparation, and audit activities.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and accounting software.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across departments.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment.
- CPA designation or progress toward certification.
- Background in public accounting and/or corporate accounting environments.
- Experience supporting multi-entity organizations.
- Prior involvement with accounting process improvements, system implementations, or automation initiatives.
- Experience mentoring, coaching, or supervising accounting professionals.
