Position Summary

Tampa Family Health Centers is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our Finance team. Reporting to the Controller, the Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining the general ledger, preparing journal entries, reconciling financial accounts, supporting month-end close activities, and assisting with financial reporting. This role plays an essential part in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the organization's financial records while supporting day-to-day accounting operations.

Essential Responsibilities

* Maintain the general ledger and prepare journal entries.

* Perform monthly account reconciliations and financial analysis.

* Complete monthly bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.

* Support monthly and year-end financial close processes.

* Maintain payroll accounting records and related documentation.

* Maintain fixed asset accounting records.

* Assist with annual audits by preparing schedules, supporting documentation, and responding to auditor requests.

* Prepare productivity reports and variance analyses.

* Maintain accurate financial records while ensuring compliance with organizational policies and accounting standards.

* Support the Finance Department with day-to-day accounting functions.

* Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university required.

* Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience.

Skills & Abilities

* Knowledge of general accounting principles and financial reporting.

* Experience preparing journal entries and account reconciliations.

* Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

* Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

* High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

* Ability to prioritize multiple assignments while meeting deadlines.

* Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.

Please note that the employee's initial training schedule may differ from the regular schedule of the position. All new hires, including part-time employees, must be available for up to 40 hours of in-person, on-site training during their first week. Additional mandatory training may continue for approximately two to three weeks, depending on the position and training requirements. Training may take place at a TFHC location other than the employee's assigned work location.
