Payroll Specialist

We are partnering with a valued client in Clearwater, FL to identify a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist with expertise in high-volume, multi-state, and union payroll processing. This is a temp-to-hire opportunity.

This role will be fully onsite initially, with the opportunity to transition to a hybrid schedule once converted to a direct employee, based on performance and business needs.

• Process high-volume payroll accurately and on schedule across multiple states and jurisdictions
• Administer union payroll, including handling union dues, benefits, wage scales, and collective bargaining agreement provisions
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations
• Maintain accurate payroll records, including earnings, deductions, garnishments, and benefits
• Reconcile payroll data, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues promptly
• Manage multi-state tax registrations, filings, and reporting requirements
• Partner with HR, Accounting, and union representatives to ensure accurate interpretation and application of payroll policies
• Prepare and review payroll reports for internal stakeholders and audits
• Support year-end activities, including W-2 processing and tax reconciliations
• Stay current with evolving payroll laws, tax requirements, and union regulations

• 3+ years of experience in high-volume payroll processing
• Proven experience with multi-state payroll (required)
• Strong background in union payroll administration (required)
• Solid understanding of payroll tax regulations and compliance requirements
  
  Experience with payroll systems (e.g., ADP, UKG, Paycom, or similar platforms)
• High attention to detail and accuracy in a fast-paced environment
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally
