Robert Half is currently recruiting for a Controller for a well-established organization in the real estate and construction industry in the Tampa Bay area. Our client is seeking an experienced accounting leader to oversee financial reporting, construction accounting, budgeting, compliance, and the continued development of a more streamlined financial infrastructure. This is a high-impact opportunity for a Controller who brings strong real estate and construction accounting experience and enjoys improving processes and reporting.
Working closely with executive leadership, the Controller will have significant ownership over the accounting function and financial architecture supporting a portfolio of real estate and construction projects.
Responsibilities include:
- Leading accounting and financial reporting for real estate and construction activities, including construction-in-process (CIP), project draws, and financing.
- Re-engineering and standardizing the General Ledger (GL) across projects to improve consolidated reporting, financial analysis, and visibility.
- Owning the budgeting process, including monthly budget-to-actual reporting, variance analysis, and meetings with department leaders.
- Preparing monthly financial statements, management reporting, and analytical insights for executive leadership and the Board.
- Leading the annual financial statement audit and coordinating audit schedules and supporting documentation.
- Overseeing financial compliance and reporting associated with grants, banking relationships, governmental funding, and other financing arrangements.
- Strengthening internal controls, accounting procedures, and reporting processes to create a scalable and efficient finance function.
- Providing leadership and oversight to the accounting team.
This opportunity offers the ability to take meaningful ownership of the financial strategy and accounting infrastructure for a real estate and construction portfolio. The Controller will have direct exposure to senior leadership and the opportunity to simplify existing processes, improve financial visibility, and build a stronger platform for future growth.
