Our client is looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Payroll Tax & Compliance Analyst to manage and support payroll tax compliance processes. This role will be responsible for preparing, filing, and reconciling federal, state, and local payroll tax returns for clients, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Compensation: $35-$50/hour

Duration: 6 month Contract

Location: 2 days/week On-Site (Tampa - 33602)

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent work experience in payroll, accounting, or tax (Master's degree or professional certifications such as CPP or EA are a plus).
  • 2–5 years of experience preparing and filing payroll tax returns.
  • Solid understanding of federal, state, and local payroll withholding taxes (income tax, unemployment, disability, etc.).
  • Strong Excel skills, including formulas required (knowledge of macros a plus).
  • Highly organized with strong follow-up and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Basic understanding of creating and maintaining PDF forms is extremely helpful.
  • Manual entry experience.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Reconcile and file monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll withholding tax returns, including amendments.
  • Make EFTPS and other tax payments for state and local entities, processing accurately and on time.
  • Monitor changes in tax laws and assess their impact on internal systems and client compliance.
  • Ensure clients' tax settings in our HCM software are accurate and compliant; perform tax balancing and setup for new and existing clients.
  • Resolve client tax issues and inquiries, including responding to time-sensitive notices and following up to ensure resolution and proper communication.
  • Identify recurring issues, document trends, and recommend process improvements to prevent reoccurrence.
